To help us offer the highest quality of veterinary care, the Bay Animal Hospital has voluntarily achieved the high standards of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), qualifying it as an AAHA Accredited Practice member. Our hospital has undergone comprehensive evaluations to ensure our compliance with over 800 medical standards. These standards pertain to facilities, equipment, practice methods and management and help us maintain our high level of care. As an accredited hospital, we voluntarily agree to be inspected on over 900 standards covering everything from Anesthesia to Zoonosis.

To maintain our AAHA accreditation, our hospital maintains AAHA’s high standards for quality veterinary care. All AAHA hospitals are regularly inspected and evaluated by trained AAHA professionals to ensure that we maintain the standards and provide the best veterinary care we can.

The American Animal Hospital Association is an international organization of more than 33,000 veterinary care providers who treat companion animals. AAHA reminds pet owners that they can help pets live healthier and longer lives by taking their pets to the veterinarian for periodic physical exams, vaccinations, and dental care as well as providing pets with fresh water, a balanced diet and exercise. Established in 1933, the association is well known among veterinarians for its high standards for hospitals and pet health care.

Purpose

To assist veterinarians in providing quality medical care and meeting AAHA standards and to promote responsible pet ownership.

Types of members

More than 3,000 veterinary hospitals voluntarily participate in the AAHA hospital evaluation program and are visited regularly to ensure compliance with AAHA standards. In addition to full-service veterinary hospitals, AAHA accredits specialty and species-specific practices.

AAHA membership is comprised of approximately 13,000 veterinarians, 4,500 veterinary students, 2,100 veterinary hospital managers and administrators, 9,600 veterinary technicians and assistants, 3,700 veterinary receptionists, and 400 international veterinarians.
